Optimizing for Real-Time Playback SynthEyes can be used as a RAM player for real-time playback of source sequences, source with temporary inserts, or final renders. This section will discuss how to best configure SynthEyes for this purpose. Image Storage First, you want to get the shot into RAM. Clearly, having a lot of RAM will help. If you are using a 32-bit system (XP/Vista-32 or OS X), you can only cache about 2.5 GB of imagery in RAM at a time, regardless of how much RAM is in your system, due to the nature of 32-bit addressing. In SynthEyes-64, running on XP/Vista-64, you can use your entire RAM, except for about 1.5 GB. If your shot does not fit, you have two primary options using the small playback-range markers on the SynthEyes time bar to play back a limited range of the shot at a time, or to reduce the amount of memory by down-sampling the images in the SynthEyes image preprocessor (or maybe drop to black/white). If you have 4K film or RED scans and are playing back on a 2K monitor, you might as well down-sample by 2x anyway. If you have a RAID array on your computer, SynthEyes s sophisticated image prefetch system should let you pull large sequences rapidly from disk. Refresh Rate Optimization You want SynthEyes to play back the images at as rapid a rate as possible. On a PC, that usually means the Camera view, in normal mode, not OpenGL. On a Mac, use the Camera View in OpenGL mode. All the other items being displayed also take up time and affect the display rate. From the Window menu, turn off “Show Top Time bar” and select “No Panel.” On the View menu, adjust Show Trackers and Show 3-D points depending on the situation. Select the Camera view. It will now fill the entire viewport area, with only the menu and toolbar at top, the status line showing playback rate at the bottom, and a small margin on the left and right. You can further reduce the items displayed by selecting Window/Floating Camera. (There is no margin-less “full-screen” mode) Actual-Speed Playback Once you have your shot playing back as rapidly as possible, you probably want it to play at the desired rate, typically 24, 25, or 29.97 fps. You can tell SynthEyes to play back at full speed, half speed, quarter speed, or double actual speed using the items on the View menu. SynthEyes does not change your monitor display rate. It achieves your desired frame rate by playing frames as rapidly as possible, duplicating or dropping frames as appropriate (much like a film projector double-exposes frames). The faster the display rate, the more accurately the target frame rate can be achieved, with less jitter. With the control panel hidden, you should use the space bar to start and stop playback, and shift-A to rewind to the beginning of the shot. Safe Areas You can enable one or more safe-area overlays from the safe area submenu of the View menu.

She saw her husband and baby daughter killed. Photo REUTERS SabbahアブHalima(45)はガザの北縁のAtatraの村の砲弾を浴びせることにおけるやけどを受けました。 彼女は、彼女の夫と赤ん坊の娘が殺されるのを見ました。 写真 ロイター John Stuart Mill described war as an ugly thing and it does not come much uglier than the digital photograph Mahmoud Abu Halima has on his mobile phone. It was taken this week and shows the body of his 15-month-old sister, Shahed, burned by white phosphorus, bloated through decomposition and without any feet or legs. Mr Halima explained what happened to the lower limbs. "There were about 12 bodies from the village that had to be left out in the open when the Israeli soldiers came. By the time we got back she had been partially eaten by wild dogs," he said. After Israel ended its ban on foreign journalists in Gaza it was a week of piecing together such stories, trying to clarify exactly what happened during the three-week military assault by Israel s armed forces. The Israeli government has accused people like the Halima family of being coached by Hamas to spout fiction. Investigation of the Halima family began in the burns unit at Shifa, the largest hospital in Gaza. During its military operations Israel had denied using white phosphorus shells improperly, meaning it was not used against civilians or in civilian areas. But the case of Sabbah Abu Halima, 45, suggested otherwise. She had been brought into the hospital with what appeared to be mild burns to her right forearm, left lower leg and feet. Without experience of white phosphorus, the staff, led by the unit s director, Nafiz Abu Shabaan, wiped the wounds, bound them and sent her on her way. "But two days later she came back, complaining of pain and when we opened the bandages we found her wounds still smoking and much, much bigger. Her arm was down to the bone and tendons, that is all that is left," he said. Sitting on her hospital bed and wincing with pain when her bandages pinched, Mrs Halima gave an initial account of what happened. She described how her family had gathered to eat in a first-storey room at the family home in the village of Atatra. It lies on the northern edge of Gaza and while it was never likely to be a target during the air assault phase of Israel s operation Cast Lead, its proximity to the fence with Israel meant it was in the front line for the ground offensive. "The first shells landed outside and we all stood up and went into the hall and a bedroom because we thought it was safe. That was when a shell came through the roof and exploded. My husband, Saadallah, was holding some of the children but his head was cut off. There was fire and smoke everywhere and the baby Shahed fell to the ground. I heard her cry mama, mama, mama , and then she stopped," Mrs Halima said. The house should be a 20-minute drive from Shifa but the conflict has turned roads into slow obstacle courses with cars having to slalom round craters, heaps of rubble and bloated carcasses of livestock. The Halima house lies just off a main road in Atatra up a muddy alley leading to fields of hothouses. Outside the house lay evidence of the shelling Mrs Halima described. Two white phosphorus shell cases, originally painted light green but burnt by detonations with the metal bent back like tulip petals, were on the ground. One still had the four tell-tale angle-irons inside to indicate a 155mm white phosphorus shell and was packed with unburned chemical. A poke with a stick to expose the chemical to oxygen was enough to set it burning again, sending out white smoke. Mr Halima, 20, was next door in the house of his uncle, Hikmat, 42, when the barrage struck and he remembered the smell of the smoke as he rushed up the open stairwell at his home. "It was a bad smell, a smell that made you choke," he said. "I came upstairs but there was smoke everywhere. I ran to get water from the bathroom but when I put the water on them the water did not stop the fire." White phosphorus fires are resistant to water. As well as his infant sister and father, Mr Halima lost two brothers - Zaid, 10, and Hamza, eight - in the blast and subsequent fire. Mr Halima explained how the killing did not end there. As the wounded, including his mother, were dragged down the stairwell, his cousin, Mohammed, 16, the son of Hikmat, ran to the fields to fetch a tractor and trailer to take the injured to safety. According to witnesses, Mohammed was shot dead by Israeli soldiers. The Atatra case is one of many in Gaza for which human rights activists have demanded an investigation. Navi Pillay, the United Nations high commissioner for human rights, has suggested that there is at least one case with "the appearance of war crimes". But Israel does not have a good record of co-operating with those investigating atrocities in Gaza. In 2006 after Israeli artillery killed 18 members of the Athamneh family in Gaza, Israel cleared itself of wrongdoing in an internal inquiry and blocked Desmond Tutu, the Archbishop Emeritus of Cape Town and Nobel peace prize laureate, from reaching Gaza to investigate the incident for the UN. This time round, after denying any improper use of white phosphorus, Israel has launched an internal inquiry. In some ways full-scale investigations of alleged atrocities by the Israeli army are academic. With the two sides in the conflict so far apart, Israeli hard-liners will not shift from their faith in the probity of its armed forces, nor will Palestinians budge from the view that their people were innocent victims. But unless they are dealt with, the cycle of enmity that has fuelled this conflict for decades will continue and the loss of life - 13 Israelis and over 1,300 Palestinians - will have been for nothing. When Israel launched its attack its stated aim was to reduce Hamas rocket fire from Gaza into Israel. At one level the mission has been successful the militants rockets have all but stopped. But before the Israeli government unfurls a Mission Accomplished banner there remains one important point of business the smuggling tunnels are open again. Much of the tunnelling under the Egyptian border is surprisingly visible, taking place out in the open in the south Gazan town of Rafah clearly within sight of nearby Egyptian watchtowers. The area was pitted with craters from Israeli air strikes but during a visit I saw several of the tunnels open or being repaired. Further north in the town of Beit Hanoun was the house of Angham al Masri, a 10-year-old girl who was killed in an Israeli air strike after it began its ceasefire in the early hours last Sunday. Her father, Rafat, 44, explained how his daughter thought the ceasefire made it safe to venture out of the house for the first time in days to check on the family farm that had been evacuated during the fighting. "She had only gone a few hundred metres when the missile struck," he said. "I ran to her and picked her up but she died in an hour." Israel said it attacked a rocket firing position. Amid claim and counter-claim about Israel s war aims and achievements, Mr Masri then indicated how operation Cast Lead has done nothing but harden Palestinian resolve against Israel. "Israel said this was a war on Hamas but when they kill people like my daughter it becomes clear it is a war on the Palestinian people," he said. "Until they change this war will never end."

They displayed fearsome prowess, completing every task swiftly with precision. Perhaps due to Kagerou and Oboro s outstanding abilities, they were banished from Amatsu by the Feudal Lord who have grown fearful of them. Betrayed by the Feudal Lord, it is said that Kagerou and Oboro have hidden themselves in the shadows of history. Decades have passed since then. A new group of clan calling themselves the "Ninja Clan" have appeared in Amatsu, who have steadily gained power over the years. It is rumored that the Jounins of the clan will teach experienced Ninjas, who pass the secret test, the ways of Kagerou and Oboro. Job Change Guide See Oboro Job Change Guide for detailed information. Changing into Oboro from a Ninja requires the player to complete a number of tasks Written Test A Survival Test Test of Weaponry Battle Test After completing these tests, the player will be transformed into a Oboro. Builds Magic STR 1 ~ 80 AGI 1 ~ 90 VIT 80 ~ 100 INT 100 ~ 120 DEX 1 ~ 110 LUK 30 ~ 60 This build is similar to Oboro s predecessor class, Ninja, and utilizes same offensive magic skills and new supportive type magic skills. INT×, DEX× and LUK× are the primary stat for Magic build to increase MATK output as well as decrease cast time of skills. One can opt to completely drop the DEX stat in favor of other stats such as STR× and AGI× with the use of Cast Time reduction equipments and 16th Night× skill to increase weight capacity as well as increase ASPD×. Note 16th Night skill stacks multiplicatively with all Cast Time reduction skills, equipments, items and stats. Kagerou s primary damage and supportive skills are Freezing Spear×, First Wind×, Flaming Petals×, Exploding Dragon×, Ninja Aura×, Cicada Skin Shed× and healthy mix of Ninja 2nd tier magic skills such as Blaze Shield×. There are new supportive skills that both Kagerou and Oboro classes can get such as 16th Night, Pure Soul×, Charm-Fire×, Charm-Ice× and Charm-Wind× that directly or indirectly increase throughput. An Oboro exclusive skill, Distorted Crescent× can also be used to increase MATK substantially. Throwing STR 90 ~ 110 AGI 80 ~ 100 VIT 80 ~ 100 INT 1 ~ 80 DEX 80 ~ 100 LUK 1 ~ 80 Throwing builds utilize newly strengthened throwing skills available to Kagerou and Oboro. The main throwing skills that are available are Swirling Petal×, Kunai Splash×, Kunai Explosion×, and Rapid Throw×. With the exception of Rapid Throw, all throwing skills are based on STR to increase ATK, and DEX to increase the skill modifier. In the case of Swirling Petal skill, it utilizes the AGI stat in its skill modifier formula. Having high amounts of DEX and LUK will allow Oboro to increase HIT and ATK of throwing skills as well as reduce cast time. It s worth noting that 16th Night skill will reduce significant portion of cast time of all skills so it s recommended that players don t focus too much on the INT stat. With the combination of old and new supportive skills such as Ninja Aura, Cicada Skin Shed, 16th Night, Pure Soul, Charm-Earth, Charm-Fire, Charm-Ice, Charm-Wind and Cast Ninja Spell×, and an Oboro-exclusive skill Distorted Crescent, Oboro can deal substantial damage to their foes. Killing Stroke STR 100 ~ 120 AGI 1 VIT 100 ~ 120 INT 1 DEX 40 ~ 100 LUK 40 ~ 100 This build focuses on the Ninja s skill Killing Stroke×, a mini-Guillotine Fist× of sorts. STR and VIT× are the two stats driving Killing Stroke s damage and are thus the main stats for this build. DEX and LUK can be used for Rapid Throw skill in conjunction with Killing Stroke to significantly increase the chance of killing your target. DEX also helps marginally with ninja skills cast time, but majority of the cast time will be reduced by 16th Night skill. A pure Killing Stroke Ninja may opt to discard some DEX and LUK in favor of additional STR/VIT for Killing Stroke damage but this is not recommended as the damage gained does not justify losing the benefit of Rapid Throw skill. Equipment Kagerou cannot wear transcendent-only or 3rd class-only equipments. They are limited to equipments that s wearable by all, ninja, kagerou/oboro, and 2nd class equipments. This means that equipments such as Nidhoggur s Shadow Garb, Variant Shoes, Valkyrian Armor cannot be worn by them. Currently on kRO, there s a crafting NPC that will craft "Modified, Improved, Enhanced" versions of certain transcendent-only equipments that s wearable by non-trans 2nd classes if the player brings necessary components. These new versions of equipments have modified stats that are much better than their old trans-only counterparts. This update came with Old Glastheim update on kRO and it may become available on iRO some time in 2013. Motivation The very first step of "Making" friends. Definition - courtney The desire to interact in with people, culture and language to which you may be new; the ability to step out of your comfort zone; the will to make mistakes and learn from them. Analysis - courtney All ICU students have already demonstrated some kind of motivation. The OYR students came from other countries because they wanted to study in Japan. April and September students passed rigorous entrance exams because they chose to attend ICU, a school with an international atmosphere. Motivation is the most important factor in overcoming differences and barriers and creating friends outside one s native language/culture. Motivation allows you to continue learning even during setbacks, allows absorption of criticism and the ability to overcome of mistakes. Learning a new culture and meeting people in a new culture is often all about mistakes and learning, and without motivation, the setbacks can easily kill the energy required to interact in a new environment. Examples / Actual Cases When I first entered ICU, I didn t know anyone - I felt so alone, because there was no friends that I could hang out with. I was so motivated and wanted to make friends, but it was hard. JLP class was too small. However, other classes were too big (since I was taking GE classes), and those classes were almost all individual work. There was no "出会い", a chance to meet someone. Even if I met many other September students, I didn t get a chance to meet OYR students and April students. There wasn t an opportunity to meet people, which was a problem. (continues on to "solution") Masumi My friend in Canada, who is initially from Hong Kong, loves Japanese movies and cars. He has never studied in Japan, however, his Japanese is soo good because he learns Japanese from watching movies and he eagers to speak Japanese to Japanese people. I think this is because he is highly motivated by falling in love with Japanese movies, cars and probably girls lol Yoshimi Well, many people at ICU wants OYR students, I think. However, the thing is... they are not thaaat motivated. Their motivation is not as high as using their free time making effort and embarassing themselves by being rejected. I mean, Japanese people tend to think like... Well,,, the girl sitting beside me seems like OYR students... I want to get to know her... but... what if I get ignored or annoyed!? isn t is embarassing?? and... she might not a OYR student. Should I talk to her in Japanese or English?? Would it be rude if I ask her where she is from.. because I heard it would be in some culture... Alright... just forget it.... so... for Japanese students... they have to be really really motivated to talk to strangers. its like jumping out from the window... Yoshimi Solution / Recommendation / Suggestion etc. - court (this needs revision) A little encouragement and motivation go a long way. Japanese language students need to find motivation in to speak in Japanese even when everyone in the immediate environment, ICU, can speak English. For example, joining a club or finding a boyfriend/girlfriend where the activities/relationships are conducted in your foreign language are excellent motivating factors. Edit this page
